Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

Despite tough times and mounting pressures, we remain aware that as an organization, we have a responsibility to our stakeholders and the community we serve. Through our institutionalized CSR, we reaffirmed our commitment to our CSR programs in 2012.

Beyond operating and financial results, we know that our business is ultimately built on the trust that our member-consumers places in us. Thus, we continued to undertake initiatives that earn the trust of our member-consumers through the Cooperative’s CSR programs.

In 2012, we continued promoting and creating awareness on the importance of safety and integrity of electrical connections of public schools through the “4th Brigada Electric Check” undertaken by the ZAMSURECO-I on May 23 - 25, 2012 in preparation for the opening of public school classes for the SY 2012-2013. A total of 1,207 classrooms comprising 131 public schools were inspected during said activity in the Municipalities of of Molave, Tambulig, Mahayag, Dumingag, Ramon Magsaysay, Aurora, Midsalip, Sominot, Labangan, Dumalinao, Tukuran, San Miguel, San Pablo, Dinas, Tabina, Pitogo, Dimataling, and the City of Pagadian.

Also, as a way of giving back to the community the benefits that the Cooperative has derived from the strong support of its member-consumers, a free medical/dental check-up and distribution of free medicines was extended by the ZAMSURECO-I. A total of 365 recipients were able to avail of the free medical check-up and medicines while 89 patients availed the dental services.

Simultaneous with the Brigada Electric Check for DepEd’s Brigada Balik Eskwela, the ZAMSURECO-I also inspected a number of LGU buildings in various municipalities in line with the Electrical Safety Awareness Month. A total of 292 offices and 117 municipal buildings were inspected & electrical service entrance connections were rehabilitated. This noble program enabled us to receive numerous commendations from various local government officials, appreciating its nobility and importance.

Further, a Feeding Program for Malnourished Children was undertaken, which benefited malnourished children in Barangays Barangay Canipay, Midsalip, a total of 261 persons were able to avail of the free medical/dental check-up and medicines while 66 persons availed the free dental services. True to its commitment in caring for the environment, contribute to the clean and green program of the government, and promote the image of ZAMSURECO-I as a responsible-environment friendly business entity, employees  planted 1,000 Mahogany trees at the ZAMSURECO-I Pole Farm, Tuburan, Mahayag Zamboanga del Sur.

Finally, we are very proud of the dedicated support and generosity of ZAMSURECO-I employees, who extended assistance to victims of Typhoon Pablo that brought so much destruction to lives and properties to the people in the Provinces of Davao del Sur, Compostela Valley, and other areas.

Responding to the call for help, the ZAMSURECO-I immediately sent two (2) Teams of the Cooperative’s best linemen (20 linemen and drivers), bringing with them vehicles (boom truck and service vehicles), special tools and other implements to immediately help in the restoration of DASURECO’s power lines in areas devastated by Typhoon Pablo.
