In response to the widespread call for humanitarian assistance to the victims of the Typhoon ‘Yolanda,’ the Zamboanga del Sur I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ZAMSURECO-I) and its employees immediately initiated activities to generate funds in order to provide immediate assistance to the victims.

The ZAMSURECO-I Board of Directors passed a Resolution, authorizing the release of funds amounting to five hundred thousand pesos (Php 500,000) to be taken from the Cooperative’s Calamity Fund. Simultaneously, employees donated cash and volunteered to convert their earned leave credits to cash, which amounted to three hundred seventy four thousand one hundred fifty nine pesos (Php374,159).

Further, instead of utilizing the Cooperative’s resources for the traditional Christmas Party this year, it was decided by the Board of Directors, Management and Staff that the budget be added to the cash donation of the ZAMSURECO-I for the victims of typhoon Yolanda. ZAMSURECO-I and its employees raised a total of P934, 159.00, which was coursed through the Association of Mindanao Electric Cooperatives, Inc. (AMRECO). The AMRECO is tasked to consolidate and facilitatedonations coming from Mindanao electric cooperatives.

“The entire ZAMSURECO-I family extends deepest sympathies and sincerest condolences on the loss of so many lives and immense destruction to properties. Together with our prayers, the cash donation is our simple way of helping victims with their needs as they start a new in rebuilding their lives,” GM Saniel said.
